2005-04-08 - 8:54 p.m. Another random picture. Las Vegas at night, soon to be a new casino. comments??? (0 so far...) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2005-04-06 - 3:12 p.m. Alright people, I need your help here. I'm trying to find a poem that O. Henry wrote to his daughter while he was in jail. Part of it goes something like, "you will find a diamond ring in the track of the first cow's foot.....when the roses are blooming on the tomato vines." I have searched and searched and Googled and Googled, but no luck. And it's driving me crazy!!!! The one thing I do know, is that it was in an article in the January 1997 issue of Smithsonian. But if you click that link, you will find that it is only part of the article. They cut if off before it gets to the part about him writing letters to his daughter from jail. Argh! So what I'm hoping is, that one of my thousands of faithful readers (thousands?? hundreds? fifty? ten??) has subscribed to and saved every single copy of Smithsonian going all the way back to January of 1997......and thus, can look up the article and find the poem. Or maybe you just know the poem, or how to find it....or...or....or...something!! I'm desperate!! (I don't know why....I just am, Ok?!) So go to it people! I promise to love you forever if you find it (and if you so desire, there may even be a photo or two in it for you.....or at least some kind of reward appropriate to the finder!) Go! Go now! But I like it. The rest of this week will be devoted to random photos from random trips (because I have still been tooooo lazy to set up a separate page just for that sort of thing!) unless something ultra~fabulous happens in the mean time. But I am feeling a bit like the shipwreck pictured above. A road trip with kids that are not your own (and trust me....I don't want any of my own) is not the most fun thing in the world. But to make it even more fun, we got food poisoning in the middle of the long drive back to home. Oy. (I would recommend not eating at the Applebee's in Roseburg!) But we are home, and alive.....just a little shipwrecked. Stay tuned. This might be a week of photos more than commentary.
