Well, of course, I've been travelling again......sorry for the silence. On this trip, I left a day later than I had planned, just because I felt like it wasn't the right time to leave yet. Then, on the way down, I made more rest stops than usual because I was feeling tired and/or hungry.....whatever excuse to stop and take a break.
Shortly after getting back on the road, after one of my breaks, I noticed traffic slowing down, brake lights coming on. I didn't go very far before I saw the flashing lights of a police car and fire engine. A woman was lying on the ground, the aid car hadn't come yet, her car was rolled into a field. It appeared that she had gone airborn and rolled several times. As I passed, she sat up, so I thought that was good at least.
My Dad used to be a photographer on call with the State Patrol. He could tell you exactly what had happend in any accident based on the skid marks and position of the car. Many nights during my youth I would go with him.....mainly so I could listen to the great stereo in his car while he was out taking pictures. (But in hind sight, I have my suspicions that my mom let me go with him just to make sure he wasn't also doing any "extra~curricular" activities!)
Anyway. with that background and my more than frequent road trips, I often wonder about fate and luck and premonition. If I hadn't stopped at that last stop, would I have been involved with that accident? If I had left a day earlier, would there have been some other traumatic event??
It's hard to say. But it haunts me sometimes. But I did make it home in one piece!! And I have some interesting blog material coming up this weekend and over the next week.....so stay tuned everyone!!!!
