Well, so far, I have no good update on the Tooth. Most people think it's a dolphin tooth, but I have looked at an awful lot of dolphin teeth today, and none of them seem to match. At one point, I thought it might be a porpoise tooth.....but I couldn't get an exact match there either. Amazingly, porcupine teeth seem to be the closest match so far.....but I know that can't be it!

However....thanks to all my searching, I now know where I can buy things like beaver oil, bear fat, and deer fat......as well as deer heads.....feet and legs.....moose nuggets.... and the ever popular, moose nugget earings!

Now if I could just find out what that darned tooth is from! I have spent wayyy too much time on this. If anyone out there knows.....please tell me before I go crazy! Thanks!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the TOOTH:

So check it out......I found this at low tide....nestled in amongst some clumps of mussel shells and things. It looks like a tooth of some sort to me.....but I have absolutely no idea from what! I took this picture of it with a paper clip (and apparently also with a cat hair) to give you an idea of the size. Does anyone out there have any clue what this is??? A Coelacanth tooth maybe???!?

Zelda, this one's for you.....if anyone can tell me, you can!

Hey look! Here I am blogging to you from my own laptop! It's been something like 2 months since I laid my fingers on this baby! And it's a miracle that it's even running.....I've had to re~install absolutely every last speck of software on this thing (and I'm not done yet, believe me). It's amazing what you lose when you lose your whole hard drive.....but losing everything is not the hard part. The hard part is having ro re~install....re~construct.....re~format.....re~etc.........double jeopardy!

As an example......I had intended on writing a much more fascinating post tonight.....about a strange tooth I found on the beach yesterday.......I was going to put up a photo of it and ask if anyone could identify it. But, NO! I just realized I haven't installed my photo editing software....or my camera software yet!! And I've done all the installing I can stand to do tonight.

So stay tuned everybody.......tomorrow I give you...... the TOOTH!!

No big post tonight. I finally got my laptop back....they had to install a new hard drive....which means I have to re~install all my software....and that's going to take some doing! If you don't hear from me tomorrow....you'll know that all did not go well.

Think good thoughts for me!

In honor of Marn, and to show support for International Cavorting Day.....I have re~arranged my blog so that it now has the lovely "Cavort" emblem over there on the left. Not sure if that's going to be it's permanent home....I might need to move things around a bit more.....if you have any suggestions, by all means let me know!

And one tiny update on the Sewing Genie situation.....I have been flooded and overwhelmed with requests for help.....so please be patient and understand that I might not be able to answer every email. Within the week, I promise to update the Sewing Genie FAQ. Look for that link over on the left....I will try to answer the most frequently asked questions. But keep in mind.....the Sewing Genie people aren't paying me! And I didn't expect this many questions! I do want to help....but please read the FAQ page before emailing me. Also, you might consider emailing the Sewing Genie people....(or where ever you ordered your machine from)....and let them know the problems you are having.....they need to know. If they knew all the common problems....maybe they would address them! But my one big piece of advice is to just take things slow...don't force things....think things through....be patient.

If all else fails.....Cavort!

Today, my Love and I went on a little reconnaissance mission to Long Beach, to scope out the The Queen Mary.....which is basically where the next Blog meet is going to happen (Oct. 26). And, let me just say, if you're going to this Blog meet.....you really should show up in the afternoon and take the "self guided tour"....it is sooo worth it! Especially if you have any interest in the opulence of the past.....of movie stars and antiques....of history....of ghosts....of ships and cruises.....or any of those things. (It costs $19....unless you are clever enough to go to their website and print out the coupon for $5.00 off!)

If you go....be sure to see the little 10 minute movie, "The Queen Mary Story".....it really gives you a good idea of what that ship's been through......and it's been through a lot!! Then wander around the ship till you're ready to drop...and find yourself at The Observation Bar.....which is what we did, of course! After you've been thorougly refreshed, you must go do the "Ghosts and Legends" show.....a cheesy but fun, mini haunted house type thing.....which was actually quite interesting, since they take you down into the hull of the ship.....you definitely get a sense of just how massive this thing really is (and it's included in the admission price).

Now, if you're going to the Blog meet.....you should definitely understand that The Queen Mary Shipwreck is separate from The Queen Mary itself.....this confused me at first. They are at the same location.....but it is separate admission to get into the Shipwreck....and the Shipwreck event is only open at night (this is actually where the blog meet will be).....The Queen Mary is open only during the day.

Anyway....that's all I'm going to post about it now....I can guarantee you that there will be much more to come on this subject......stay tuned!

Have you ever had one of those nights....where you're drinking....and you come up with some fabulous ideas....then you commit to them......only to wake up the next day and say, "What was I thinking??!?!?!!" Well, that was me....yesterday! Remember when I told you about that fabulous new drink I created? The Rumble Seat. Ugh! I woke up this morning thinking, "Why?! did I post that??!" The very thought of drinking that drink was just.....Ugh!

But, I have recovered.....and in the interest of keeping up the blog....I begrudgingly got out the Kahlua....and the brandy... and have attempted to re~create The Rumble Seat!

But first, let me tell you about the Sidecar. This is one of my most favorite drinks when made properly, but very few people....and very few bartenders....have ever heard of it. It's a drink that people used to order way back 1940's...but has long been forgotten. It's very simple: brandy, cointreau, and lemon juice in equal parts. You can play with the proportions to get the exact taste you like....but basically that's it. (For some reason, that I do not understand, it's hard to get a bartender to make a Sidecar, even when you explain the most simple version....I mean, how hard can it be? You have 3 ingredients....you pour them in equal parts......that's pretty easy...don't you think??)

Anyway....let's move on to the Rumble Seat....... the "kissin' cousin" of the Sidecar. Originally....when I was having wayyyy to much fun last night, I thought that equal parts brandy, Kahlua, and lemon juice...tasted good. (And I thought it would be a good topic to blog about!) But, no. Just say NO. In actuality, it's more like 1ounce brandy, 1/2 ounce lemon juice, and 1/4 ounce Kahlua. And still I'm not so sure. My Love seems to like it....but??? Hmmm.....I think I'm done experimenting with this. It was just one of those nights! Now, I'm going to go have a martini.....and go to bed!

Goodnight Everyone!

Technology and cocktails. Those two things go together...don't you think!? Well, at least that's what my day was about! First, I went chasing all over town to find the guy who had my dead laptop. Of course, this took all day....giving new meaning to that Jimi Hendrix song, "Cross Town Traffic." Long story....but basically I have a friend who is a computer genius....he thought he might be able to salvage my laptop....but no. And you know it's really bad when your computer genius friend cannot fix your computer. So, it was time to retrieve it and take it back to the store.....since I still have a warranty. (Supposedly, sometime next week they'll give me the prognosis.)

Anyway, when I finally got home, it was definitely time for "cocktail hour". My Love and I started off with the usual Bombay Sapphire martini (you've got to click on that link and wander around in there...you can design your own glass...pretty cool!)....but then it was time to get experimental! We decided to try our luck with various combinations that included Kahlua and brandy......and I came up with the most fabulous new drink, "The Rumble Seat"!! But you're going to have to wait until tomorrow for the full details....I still need to do a bit more tasting....I mean testing, to get it right.

Stay tuned...........
