When it rains, it pours.

So...if it wasn't enough for Alan to have a huge ordeal with his heart(angiogram needed) at the same time we are supposed to be moving out of our apartment in SoCal to move back to our house in NoCal (no, we are not rich, I'll get to that in a minute)....I then developed a mystery knee problem while we were packing.

But none of that matters, because while I was at urgent care we got a call from our lawn guy (neighbor boy who lives down the street) telling us that the house has been broken into and totally trashed.

(Yeah...the house with all our good stuff. The house that we were moving back to. Because we're broke, because of lost jobs and such.)

Hmmm.....

So, when it rains it pours. And I'm still waiting on an appointment for my knee and Alan needs a new cardiologist.

I hate to post negative stuff here. But...

Oh look! A new post!!!

Some of you guys have been with me long enough to know that I have been bouncing back and forth from Oregon to San Fransisco to Los Angeles and back again.

I think it makes me sound like I'm a millionaire. But in reality, Alan and I have really just been following the jobs and trying to hang on. We've had our highs and lows, yet somehow we have always landed on our feet.

But now we are in the awful position of being completely broke...yet knowing that if we can just scramble somehow and hang on a bit longer, we might be able to swing the next project and survive....and not have to move again. I sooo do not want to have to move again.

But, like they say, "It takes money to make money." And this is so true. I've lived it!

So I have started a crowdfunding campaign, sort of as a last resort. I am really, truly at the end of my rope.

If you have a few spare pennies, I would love you forever if you could throw some into the pot. (But, hey, I'll love you forever either way!)

I can either pay you back when I get back on my feet or pay it forward to the charity of your choice. Also, for donations over $100, I will include one of my paintings or collages (your choice).

I know this is a lot to ask, but I really need your help. You can email me if you need more details on why, what, how, extra stuff. (dogsdontpurr at gmail dot com)

At least take a moment to click the link below for a bit more of the story. Thanks you guys!!

Hey...I really am still here, but Diaryland, my web host, has been having a bit of an issue recently. So if you're actually able to read this, you are wayyy ahead of me! For some reason the font color is not working and everything is wonky. Hopefully they'll get it fixed soon. *heavy sigh*

Anyway, this is just a short note to tell you about the latest project I'm working on. So go here to a website that actually works: BullardArchive.com

Sometimes a foghorn is not a foghorn....

I live on a canal near the ocean. Unfortunately, it looks like I may have to move sometime soon. So I was sitting here tonight contemplating that, with my patio door open, listening to the sounds of the night.

It's not uncommon to hear a ship's horn. Or if the fog rolls in, a foghorn will start up and moan on and off through the night.

So as I got up to get another drink, I heard the horn and felt the melancholy that comes with the thought of having to leave this place. And I vowed that I had to find a way to always live near the ocean.

But then...as I turned away from the door, and walked closer to the kitchen, I quickly realized that what I was hearing was not the foghorn at all. It was actually the heavy sigh that my refrigerator makes occasionally. (Probably as an indication that it is dying.)

And then I began to laugh hysterically. It cracked me up so bad...I nearly fell on the floor laughing so hard. It was one of those moments that just catches you.

Sometimes a foghorn is not a foghorn...

Well...the least I can do to keep this blog active is to continue to pimp myself...no?

So I'm finally getting my Etsy site, SidewaysBungalow up and running again.

(You can buy a little handful of sunshine by clicking here.)

There will be many more things to come. You can also take a sneak peak at stuff from my antique store: Marine Drive Antiques. There's a ton of cool stuff there...gas station signs (Tydol, Mobil, Texaco, etc), neon, automobilia, manequins, weird stuff.

If you see something in the photos that you're interested in...leave a comment or contact me: dogsdontpurr @ gmail dot com.

Stay tuned!!

After traveling for the last few months, I had one of those weird moments of waking up in the middle of the night not knowing where I was....then I realized I was finally home! (Well, at one of my homes...Alan's house.)

Anyway...I may try to post some of the story here, but definitely look for pictures and stories on Instagram and on Twitter.

The pictures are usually better on Twitter, but Insta lets me write more stuff...so best to check them both. And I might actually get around to using this site again, so don't give up on this place just yet.

Thanks for staying in touch!!

Yeah, so here I am again apologizing for never posting. But here's the thing, I'm on The Twitter almost all the time now. So you should follow me over there, but when I have a big post over here, I'll let you know over there. Kinda like a dog chasing it's own tail....

Anyway, the photo above is from one of my favorite bars in Astoria: Astoria Coffee House & Bistro. Go there! You can eat and drink the night away, then come back for a late breakfast/brunch to nurse that hangover. I could live at this place!!

But anyway, stay tuned people...I've got all kinds of crazy stuff going on. Check my Twitter...it's way more exciting over there at the moment. And I actually post stuff there sometimes!

(In case my link up there to my Twitter dealie doesn't work, you can search for me as Purplefully.)

So...about a month ago, I was supposed to be traveling up to Oregon to spend the summer trying to liquidate my antique store. (I was up there last summer, but for reasons beyond my control, nothing happened.)

This time around, I have been waylaid by one thing or another to a point of being ridiculous. First, it took almost a month for both Alan and I to get our prescriptions filled (something that usually takes a day or two). Then I got strep throat and had to wait around to see a doctor. Then, I had a reaction to the antibiotic and had to stay another couple of days.

Today, we were FINALLY ready to go. The car was all packed with our mountains of provisions.

AND THEN....the car wouldn't start. The alternator is dead, battery dead.

So, yeah. We're not going anywhere anytime soon. My voodoo neighbor says it's a sign.

I sorta think it is too. I just wish I knew what the sign meant exactly. Why are we not supposed to go on this trip???

Argh....

There will be many adventures ahead. This week begins our now annual trek from L.A. to Astoria Oregon. ROAD TRIP!!

So stay tuned.

Also keep an eye on our two other websites if you want a piece of the action:

So now, on to new things...

I think I may have mentioned in the past that I dabble in hoarding....uhhh, I mean...antiques/collectibles/junk/anything that will sell.

Well, in case you forgot, I thought I'd bring it up again. You know, just in case.

And, apparently Etsy has these cool little widgets to make it easier to advertise your stuff, so I thought I should give them a roll in hopes of actually SELLING something.

So, here we go. First up is this little gallery type thing of stuff I actually have for sale. We'll see how it goes. Might need some fine tuning. Dunno.

If all else fails, go to SidewaysBungalow.com....and buy something! Thanks.
